It turns out LeBron James' recent visit to Miami consisted of more than just rehab.

James, who traveled to Miami to be in warmer weather to help with his recovery from knee and back strains, met with free agent guard Ray Allen in an attempt to persuade the 39-year-old into joining the Cleveland Cavaliers for the stretch run, reports Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

McMenamin notes that several Cavaliers players have kept in contact with Allen, who hasn't played since losing Game 5 of the 2014 NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs as a member of the Miami Heat

Allen - the NBA's all-time leader in made 3-pointers - played two seasons in Miami with James, capturing his second title with the four-time MVP in 2013.

The Cavaliers entered Wednesday ranked 11th in 3-pointers made, and 18th in 3-point percentage (34.7), just below the league-average mark. Allen is a career 40 percent shooter from long range, and the sharpshooter shot 37.5 percent from deep a season ago.
