Robin Lopez: (Hand) Likely Out Until Early February

Lopez (hand) will likely remain out until early February, after stating his right hand was a "little weak" upon removal of his hard cast last week, The Oregonian reports.

Analysis:

Lopez is now wearing a removable soft brace that "allows more flexibility, mobility while still providing a little bit of support." While he's unable to perform weight-bearing exercises with his right hand, he's supplementing his recovery effort with ultrasonic bone healing therapy to speed the healing process in his third and fourth metacarpals. When considering a return date, next Wednesday, Jan. 28 against the Cavaliers marks exactly six weeks since sustaining the injury. However, the aforementioned weakness in his hand could extend his stay on the sideline into February, which jibes with the initial 6-to-7 week recovery timetable.
