Report: Grizzlies discussing 10-day contract with Tyrus Thomas

The Memphis Grizzlies are looking for a big man, and may have found in free-agent power forward Tyrus Thomas.

The two parties are in serious discussions about a 10-day contract, reports Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears

Thomas, 28, last played in the NBA in 2012-13 with Charlotte, and has career 36-minute averages of 14 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.4 blocks.

Spears recently caught up with Thomas, and the LSU product opened up about his time out of the league.

The last two years I've just been miserable. I hate when people say, "You're getting paid, so it's cool." No, it's not (expletive) cool. I'm (expletive) miserable sitting at home.

I'm not broke. I'm not desperate for money. When playing basketball is what you love to do and you physically can't do it and you still have that urge to do it, it's tough.

Charlotte amnestied Thomas in 2013 after 26 games.

After I was amnestied, I felt I was left for dead, as far as the NBA world was concerned. "I wasn't my old jovial self. I wasn't around my family as much. I was kind of shying away from everybody just because I didn't want to talk about anything. The questions … "What's up with ball?"

Thomas is on the comeback trail, and could be back in the NBA in the coming days.
