Warriors steamroll Nuggets, win franchise-best 16th straight at home

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The dominance of the Golden State Warriors has become so commonplace that a 43-point Monday afternoon drubbing of the Denver Nuggets barely warrants attention.

The Warriors moved to 33-6 with the win, extending their lead over the rest of the Western Conference to four games and their lead over the rest of the league to a game-and-a-half. They are virtually unbeatable anywhere - boasting a 15-5 record on the road - but they've been obscene at home.

By dismantling the Nuggets on Monday, the Warriors improved to a league-best 18-1 on their own floor, setting a franchise record in the process by winning their 16th consecutive home game. The franchise had previously won 15 consecutive home games in 1989-90 and had won 16 straight twice in the 1950s as the Philadelphia Warriors, but this sets a new mark for the team in Oakland.

Because the Warriors were so dominant, none of their players stood out in the box score. Steph Curry had his usual 20 points and eight assists and Klay Thompson had a game-high 22, but the story was really that all 13 Warriors in uniform scored, including James Michael McAdoo, who dropped 11 with five rebounds in his NBA debut

Not a single Warrior was tasked with playing more than 25 minutes, leaving the team fresh for a tough test Wednesday, when they'll host the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are 28-13, but the Warriors probably aren't too worried after rolling them 131-106 in Houston on Saturday.
