Hawks' Horford, Timberwolves' Williams named Players of the Week
Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford and Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Mo Williams have been named Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the Jan. 12-18 period.
Horford, who also won the weekly award in mid-December, averaged 21.7 points per game on a ridiculous 84.4 percent shooting as the Hawks extended their winning streak to 12 games last week. Horford appeared in three of four games - wins over the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls.
Horford recorded a triple-double against the Sixers and also averaged eight rebounds and 6.3 assists through the three games. Between he and Jeff Teague, the East-leading Hawks have collected three Player of the Week nods this season.
Williams scored an NBA season-high 52 points in a victory over the Indiana Pacers on Jan. 13, and averaged 30.3 points, 6.3 assists, three rebounds and a steal in a 2-1 week for the T-Wolves after Minnesota had lost 15 games in a row.
Williams last won the weekly award while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in December 2006.
