Report: Clippers interested in Tayshaun Prince

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Tayshaun Prince may be off to another team before he even plays a game with the Boston Celtics.

Prince, whom the Celtics acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies in a three-team deal earlier in the week, is garnering interest from the Los Angeles Clippers, reports Ken Berger of CBS Sports

Berger notes that Prince will meet with team officials soon to discuss his future, which is unlikely to be with the rebuilding Celtics. If Prince doesn't want to stay in Boston, the team would pursue trades before agreeing to a buyout with the veteran, Berger adds.

Due to a lack of movable assets, the Clippers would prefer acquiring Prince after he's bought out. It's been suspected that Prince and the Celtics would agree to a buyout since Boston obtained him in a deal that saw Jeff Green land in Memphis.

The Clippers' interest in Prince makes sense, as the team has little depth at the small forward position past starter Matt Barnes.

Prince averaged 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 26 games with the Grizzlies. The 34-year-old shot an impressive 45.5 percent from long range in 33 attempts.
