Report: Spurs to waive Austin Daye
San Antonio Spurs reclamation projects have been so consistently successful over the years that it's a bit of a surprise when they don't pan out.
Unfortunately, that appears to be the case with forward and former 15th overall pick Austin Daye, who the Spurs are waiving, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Daye, who came over in a trade with the Toronto Raptors last season, averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in his 40-game stint with the Spurs, while shooting just 36.1 percent from the field. He had a season-high 22 points and 10 rebound last Saturday in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Spurs are looking to open up a roster spot to sign 24-year-old D-League power forward JaMychal Green to a 10-day contract. Green, who the Spurs signed to a non-guaranteed deal in the summer and waived just before the start of the regular season, has been playing for the team's D-League affiliate in Austin.
In 19 games with the Austin Spurs, Green's averaged 23.0 points 10.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.
