Mavericks' Rondo will play Friday vs. Nuggets

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

While there was initially some concern over the severity of Rajon Rondo's Achilles injury, it turns out the Dallas Mavericks point guard is ready to return after just a game on the sidelines, according to the Star-Telegram's Dwain Price.

Perhaps that shouldn't be surprising. Rondo is one of the NBA's toughest dudes, and he's been known to completely disregard his injury recovery timetables. Despite fracturing his hand barely a month before the season, Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets was just the second all season Rondo missed due to injury.

Since coming to the Mavericks in a trade on Dec. 18, Rondo has averaged 11.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.8 steals in 12 games. Dallas is 8-4 when he plays.

Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler, who both sat out Wednesday to rest, are also back in the lineup for Friday's rematch with the Nuggets.
