Garnett suspended 1 game for headbutt, Howard fined $15k

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

There isn't much of a grey area in the NBA when it comes to a blatant headbutt, and it makes for quick and easy disciplinary decisions.

The league suspended Brooklyn Nets power forward Kevin Garnett one game without pay Tuesday for headbutting Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard during Monday's game - an incident you can view in the post below.

The altercation occurred in the first quarter, with Garnett throwing the ball at Howard and then headbutting him. Howard responded with a push to Garnett's throat, earning himself a $15,000 fine. Garnett was ejected for his role in the altercation while Howard remained in the game.

This isn't Garnett's first run-in with another player or the league office. He has been suspended on three previous occasions for a total of three games and fined eight times for a total of $125,000.

The veteran will sit out Brooklyn's game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
