Wizards hand Bulls second straight thumping

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Hot: The Washington Wizards.

Not: The Chicago Bulls.

The Wizards won their third straight with a 102-86 pounding of the suddenly reeling Bulls Friday night in D.C. Marcin Gortat led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds while John Wall added 16 points and 12 assists.

Admittedly, it's a little early to start locking in favorites in the Eastern Conference, but the Wizards are looking good since snapping a three-game losing streak, while the Bulls have lost their last two games - including Wednesday at home versus the Utah Jazz - by an average of 18 points.

While Derrick Rose shot above 40 percent Friday for the first time in seven games, he was 1-of-7 from three, perhaps a byproduct of Gortat and Nene sealing off the Bulls inside.

"Their bigs dictated everything tonight," Rose said afterwards, reported by K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

Rose led the Bulls with 19 points while Jimmy Butler was held to just 10 on 2-of-12 shooting.

With the win, the Wizards moved into second spot in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Bulls dropped to fourth - percentage points behind the Toronto Raptors.
