Nets' Hollins says he needs to scale back minutes for Johnson, Jack

The Brooklyn Nets have found success with a lineup tweak that saw point guard Jarrett Jack inserted into the starting rotation last month, but head coach Lionel Hollins thinks he's been leaning on Jack too heavily.

Hollins said Thursday that both Jack and swingman Joe Johnson have been playing too many minutes lately, and it's something he needs to "alleviate."

Johnson has averaged more than 40 minutes over his last four games, while Jack has played 83 combined in the last two contests.

"I have to let up or Jarrett will be hurt," Hollins said

But with Deron Williams (who's now ostensibly Jack's backup) set to miss at least a week with a rib fracture, and with little to no small forward depth behind Johnson, scaling the pair's minutes back could prove easier said than done.

When it was suggested the Nets should look to pick up another point guard, Hollins responded: "You have to talk to (general manager) Billy (King) about that."

For a start, the Nets' training staff forced Jack to rest Thursday, refusing to let him participate in practice.
