Lowry averaged 22.3 points, 8.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals to lead the Raptors to an 11-4 month despite the absence of All-Star swingman DeMar DeRozan. He finished the month second in scoring and fourth in assists.

Lowry becomes only the second Raptor to win the award. Chris Bosh did so for Toronto in January 2007.

Harden led the league in scoring for December, averaging 30.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.9 steals and nearly a block per game in carrying the Rockets to a 9-5 record.
