Knicks' Shumpert says rehabbing shoulder is 'not there yet'

Mark L. Baer / USA Today Sports

Since losing Iman Shumpert to a dislocated left shoulder on Dec. 12, the New York Knicks haven't won a game.

Not that that's unusual for this year's Knicks - on track to be the worst in franchise history - whose current nine-game losing streak is only their second-longest of the season, and their third of at least seven games.

Still, Shumpert is their most reliable shooting guard, and easily their best perimeter defender. At the least, getting him back would give them a chance of slowing the downward spiral that's sucking them into unforeseen depths.

Unfortunately, that doesn't appear likely to happen any time soon. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Shumpert said the shoulder is not very close to being back to full strength. "Getting there," he said, "but not there yet."

Shumpert was initially slated to be re-evaluated three weeks after suffering the injury. Saturday will mark the three-week point.
