VIDEO: Rondo's top 5 moments with the Celtics

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Rajon Rondo makes his return to Boston on Friday with his new Dallas Mavericks squad.

Rondo admits it'll be emotional, as the Boston Celtics were the only team the point guard knew for the first eight years of his professional career.

The Kentucky alum arrived in Boston a season before general manager Danny Ainge acquired Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to join Paul Pierce. Rondo - the young point guard - rounded out one of the first-assembled superteams and grew into an elite point guard.

Here are his top five moments as a Celtic.

5. Game 4, 2010 Eastern Conference semifinals

Rondo puts together a triple-double (29 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists) as the Celtics tie their series with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at two games apiece, a series they would ultimately win in six games.

4. Triple-doubles Knicks, 2012

Rondo notches his second triple-double in three games. But his line of 18 points, 20 assists and 17 rebounds makes him the first player since Magic Johnson to register 17 or more in each category.

3. 2010 hustle play

In Game 3 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic, Rondo entered Celtics playoff lore by outhustling Orlando's Jason Williams and chasing a loose ball into the Magic end, finishing with a layup.

It may not have been equal to Larry Bird's famous inbound steal, but not unlike it, Rondo's play forever endeared him to the Celtics' faithful.

2. Rondo scores 44 in 2012 playoffs vs. Heat

Rondo once tried to sneak into the Miami Heat huddle. About a year later, the point guard played 53 minutes in a 115-111 overtime win over the Heat in Game 2 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals. Rondo scores 44 points on 16-of-24 shooting, dishes out 10 dimes and pulls down eight rebounds. The Celtics ultimately fall to Miami in seven games.
