Ed Davis has broken nose, hopes to avoid wearing mask

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

As it turns out, Ed Davis is one tough dude.

Davis self-reported that he had his nose broken during play on Tuesday, courtesy of a late foul from Denver Nuggets guard Nate Robinson. Not only did Davis remain in the game for the final 96 seconds of the victory after taking the blow, but Davis isn't talking like he'll miss any time.

"Hopefully I don't have to play with a mask," Davis said after the game.

The Los Angeles Lakers power forward has been having a pretty terrific season below the radar, averaging 7.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in just 23.7 minutes while shooting 63 percent from the floor. And hey, if that production hasn't earned him the respect of teammate Kobe Bryant yet, playing through a broken nose surely will.

Davis is expected to visit a doctor in Los Angeles on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury.
