Kevin Garnett to sit for rest on Tuesday

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

As he's done more often than not on the second night of back-to-backs this season, Kevin Garnett will sit out for a rest day on Tuesday.

This will mark the fifth game Garnett has missed on the year, all of them coming the day after playing. He has appeared in both ends of back-to-backs at times, but the Brooklyn Nets are understandably cautious with their 38-year-old veteran.

That strategy has paid dividends so far, with Garnett averaging 7.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in 22.5 minutes, numbers that are all slightly higher than a year ago.

The Nets will start Brook Lopez alongside Mason Plumlee in a gigantic frontcourt look as they try to combat the size of the Chicago Bulls. Lopez had been coming off the bench since returning from injury and will get a chance to find his groove as a starter once again. Plumlee and Lopez have played 61 minutes together this season, and the Nets have been rolled by 18.9 points per-100 possessions in that span, an atrocious mark.
