Lillard won't pander for All-Star votes

By now, we're all aware of the flaws and biases of All-Star voting - not just in the NBA, but pretty much every major sports league.

That said, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard won't be taking a page out of Chris Bosh's book to try and gain fan votes.

"(My agent) just told me it was early and you're just not as popular as these guys," Lillard said, as reported by The Oregonian's Mike Richman. "I'm not going to do a campaign to try to start anything... I feel like it's a respect thing when you're voted in by the coaches so I don't mind that."

Lillard is certainly deserving of an All-Star nod, although not as a starter. At this point the deserving Western Conference starting backcourt should be Stephen Curry and James Harden.

However, due to those aforementioned flaws and biases, it is unlikely Harden will start. The 36-year-old legend Kobe Bryant currently leads him by almost 200,000 votes. Curry leads Western Conference backcourt vote-getters.
