Report: Suns more open to moving Thomas than Dragic or Bledsoe

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

With Goran Dragic able to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas locked up long-term, it seemed as if the Phoenix Suns would look to move Dragic if any of their three point guards were deemed expendable.

Possibly owing to last season's success, and the team's early struggles this year, it's actually newcomer Thomas who may be more likely to be dealt. There is a feeling around the league that the Suns would be most open to moving Thomas, according to Zach Lowe of Grantland.

The Suns signed Thomas to a team-friendly, four-year, $27-million contract this offseason, betting big that a multi-guard approach was the right one for the franchise. Thomas has been great as a bench scorer, averaging 15.4 points in just 24.4 minutes, but the team has struggled to work him into the system, and they're a somewhat disappointing 15-14.

The issue isn't so much Thomas - the Suns are outscoring opponents by 5.5 points per-100 possessions when he's on the floor - but the overall impact he's had on the rotation. Dragic, in particular, has struggled with an altered role a season after breaking out, and head coach Jeff Hornacek has only used the trio together for 58 (encouraging) minutes.

There's nothing suggesting the Suns can't figure things out in the long run - or that they'll even make a move - but their chances of making the playoffs looks tenuous. If they shake things up, it's not certain to be Dragic out the door, even with his status as a potential free agent.
