Parker scores 26 in return, helps snap Spurs' 4-game losing streak

The Los Angeles Clippers learned the hard way on Monday that while the Big Three of the San Antonio Spurs may be getting old, they haven't gotten any less effective.

Tony Parker returned from a five-game absence due to a hamstring strain to lead the team with 26 points as they fought for a 125-118 victory over the Clippers, snapping a four-game losing streak. Parker shot 11-of-18 and added four assists, providing a chaotic spark that had been missing for the Spurs in recent games.

Parker had missed nine of the team's past 11 games, and though Cory Joseph played well in his stead, his return clearly ignited the offense.

He was joined by Manu Ginobili, who scored 19 points with 10 assists but, far more importantly, proved that magic exists. Twice. Tim Duncan also got in on the act, dropping a cool 21-and-12 without anyone really noticing, as he's wont to do.

The Spurs' defense was found wanting some with Kawhi Leonard still on the shelf, as the Clippers shot 50 percent from the floor and got to the free throw line plenty. Chris Paul proved a problem for Parker, scoring 25 points with nine assists, and Blake Griffin remains a match-up issue, dropping 22 points with six rebounds and six assists.

Given how tough the last week has been for the Spurs - they lost consecutive triple-overtime games and were edged by state rival Dallas - they'll surely take the narrow victory and look to gather some momentum. It won't be easy, with Oklahoma City on the docket on Christmas Day.
