Swaggy P: Iggy buys him car, league's best 3-point shooter, can help Kobe rest

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

This holiday season, we're thankful for Swaggy P. Seriously, there is no athlete in any sport who provides as much light, fun, easy copy and brings as much levity to the proceedings as Nick Young. He's Shammgod's gift to the basketball world.

As always, there's plenty to cover with Young this week.

Let's start with the biggest item: Young's girlfriend, pop-star Iggy Azalea, is backing up her claim's that she is, in fact, the realest. Young left Los Angeles Lakers' practice today to find a '62 Impala waiting for him, complete with a gift tag addressed to Swaggy P.

Feeling like Westside connection lol
What do you get @NickSwagyPYoung for Christmas? @IGGYAZALEA found something pretty good.

That's an incredible gift, and credit Azalea for strategically delivering it on Dec. 22, leaving Young three days to one-up her with a mega-gift of his own.

Of course, it wouldn't be a day in the life of Young without some outlandish, basketball-related spectacle, too. On Sunday, Young suggested that the best way to give Kobe Bryant a rest, as the Lakers appear to be considering, would be to feed Swaggy P the rock a little more.

"Just give me the ball," Young said. "And that's what could happen. I'm always down to take over the load. Let me, let Wayne (Ellington) take a couple shots. But majority, just give me the ball."

Giving Young the ball has been a fruitful strategy so far this season, with the shoot-first, shoot-second shooting guard averaging 15.6 points in just 25 minutes. He's also posting the best offensive efficiency metrics of his career, and the Lakers have been 8.8 points per-100 possessions better with him on the floor as a result.

Oh, and that career-best 43.2 percent mark from long range?

"I'm the best 3-point shooter in the league," Young said.

That's not true, but he has been quite hot from outside. He's tied for second in 3-point makes per-36 minutes and 13th in 3-point percentage. Perhaps Young's angling to participate in two different All-Star Weekend events.

The bounce is real ... I might catch a body fri......... @lakers
