NBA Game Summary - Oklahoma City at Golden State
Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Steph Curry stuffed the stat sheet and six Warriors scored in double figures as Golden State got back in the win column with a 114-109 decision over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Curry posted a game-high 34 points with nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals for Golden State, which lost its franchise-high 16-game win streak in Memphis on Tuesday.
Klay Thompson scored 19 points and Draymond Green flirted with a triple- double, tallying 16, nine assists and nine boards for the Warriors.
"I mentioned before the game, we haven't been that pleased with the offense the last couple games," said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "We got stagnant in Memphis and in New Orleans a little bit. The ball really hummed tonight."
Thunder star Kevin Durant scored 30 points in the first half but didn't play in the second after suffering a sprained right ankle just before halftime. Russell Westbrook picked up some of the slack, netting 33 points with eight assists but shooting just 11-for-30 from the field.
The Thunder were 7-1 over their last eight games with Durant in the lineup. The reigning MVP missed the first 17 games of the season following foot surgery.
"I was a little nervous but I knew when I stood up and started walking it felt good," Durant said. "I'll take it a day at a time. Tomorrow morning I'll see how it reacts and go from there."
The Warriors led by as many as eight in the fourth before Westbrook and the Thunder made their push.
Westbrook scored all 11 points during an 11-2 Thunder flurry late in the fourth quarter. His pull-up jumper at 2:59 made it 105-104, but Curry ended the run with a jumper at the other end that put the Warriors back in front.
Green's putback following Harrison Barnes' missed layup pushed it to 108-105, and Curry banked in an off-balance runner on the next trip to force a timeout.
Barnes' turn-around jumper on an isolation post up with 17.3 seconds left made it a two-possession game, and Westbrook missed short on a deep 3 at the other end. Golden State ran out the remaining time.
The Thunder carved up Golden State for 40 first-quarter points.
Durant hit three 3-pointers in less than a minute to stretch Oklahoma City's lead to 25-11 less than halfway through the opening period. Green hit a 3 and Barnes beat the buzzer with a long two, however, to pull the Warriors within eight after one.
It took the Warriors less than five minutes into the second to claim their first lead. Shaun Livingston's reverse layup at 7:03, which was part of a 15-4 run, gave the hosts a 49-48 edge.
OKC played from behind for the rest of the half but got within two on Andre Roberson's 3-ball late in the half.
Both teams shot 12-for-23 in the third quarter with a pair of 3-pointers. Golden State's three free throws were the difference, as OKC went 0-for-4 from the stripe in the period.
