Pelicans' Evans out Thursday vs. Rockets with knee contusion

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

A right knee contusion will keep Tyreke Evans out of the New Orleans Pelicans' lineup Thursday against the Houston Rockets, the team announced.

Missing Evans is a blow to the Pelicans, as he was averaging 17 points, 5.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals as the team's second option behind Anthony Davis.

With Evans out, the Pelicans are expected to start Austin Rivers alongside Jrue Holiday in the backcourt.
