The 140: NBA Power Rankings, Week 7 - Warriors remain golden, Hawks into top 10

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Another edition of The 140, the best and most concise NBA power rankings around, is here.

The top three are unchanged from a week ago, but the Hawks are on the rise, and the East is finally getting some love - with four teams in the top 10 - even though the West remains best. Seriously, think about the coming playoffs in the West for a second. Do it.

Let's go.

1. Golden State Warriors (21-2)
(Last Week: 1)

Insane:

Read this: "Instagram censorship is the only thing from this Warriors season that could possibly be considered a disappointment."

2. Memphis Grizzlies (19-4)
(Last Week: 2)

Memphis needed OT to beat Charlotte and Philly, which is disturbing on many levels. Massive game Tuesday vs. Golden State. Can't wait.

3. Portland Trail Blazers (19-6)
(Last Week: 3)

We're about to find out what Portland's made of without Robin Lopez. That's fun.

4. Houston Rockets (18-5)
(Last Week: 6)

They went 8-3 without Dwight, and Donatas Motiejunas' Twitter bio is "The player of Houston Rockets." That's worth a two-spot jump.

5. Toronto Raptors (19-6)
(Last Week: 8)

They're 6-3 without DeRozan, and Landry Fields is both starting and hitting threes. That's how much of a Raptors universe we now live in.

Landry Fields!

6. Atlanta Hawks (17-7)
(Last Week: 11)

Top-10 offense and defense. The Hawks are real, and they're spectacular

7. Los Angeles Clippers (17-7)
(Last Week: 4)

I need more from the Clippers' defense. It's worse than the 76ers'.

8. Washington Wizards (17-6)
(Last Week: 10)

I want this for Christmas:

Also: Marcin Gortat is black. You learn something every damn day.

9. San Antonio Spurs (17-8)
(Last Week: 5)

Pop's the GOAT, example 1,736:

10. Cleveland Cavaliers (14-9)
(Last Week: 7)

Real talk from David Blatt after back-to-back losses:

11. Dallas Mavericks (17-8)
(Last Week: 9)

The truest statement you will read in months:

And you can't teach these instincts:

SHOE SWAT

12. Chicago Bulls (15-9)
(Last Week: 12)

Derrick Rose has played in 11 straight games. Eleven. In a row. Life is beautiful.

13. New Orleans Pelicans (11-12)
(Last Week: 14)

Look at it. Respect it.

14. Oklahoma City Thunder (11-13)
(Last Week: 16)

The Thunder have moved up from 24, to 18, to 16, to 14. They're 8-2 in their last 10 and have won six straight. They're back.

15. Milwaukee Bucks (13-12)
(Last Week: 17)

This is just the worst:

16. Phoenix Suns (12-14)
(Last Week: 13)

The Suns' season in one six-second video:

WHEN THE MIDDLETON IS SELLIN!

17. Sacramento Kings (11-13)
(Last Week: 15)

This breaks my heart:

So long, Mike Malone, the best Kings coach in a decade.

18. Brooklyn Nets (10-12)
(Last Week: 19)

It's been two weeks:

Jarrett gets #MINDBLOWN

19. Miami Heat (11-13)
(Last Week: 20)

From the Big Three to this:

20. Orlando Magic (10-17)
(Last Week: 21)

Evan Fournier's hair offends me on a deep and personal level. It shouldn't be allowed.

21. Denver Nuggets (10-14)
(Last Week: 18)

Timofey Mozgov would like you to vote for Ty Lawson for the All-Star game and not drink and drive. Good advice, both.

22. Los Angeles Lakers (8-17)
(Last Week: 24)

The most significant anything to happen to the Lakers in the past seven days was this Swaggy P post-game interview:

23. Boston Celtics (8-14)
(Last Week: 22)

Yep:

Avery Bradley #shaqtinafool

24. Indiana Pacers (8-17)
(Last Week: 23)

In a lost season, at least the Pacers have this:

25. New York Knicks (5-21)
(Last Week: 26)

The best part about the Knicks' historically bad start: Andrea Bargnani has yet to play a game. They're going to get worse, people.

26. Charlotte Hornets (6-18)
(Last Week: 28)

God help the Hornets:

27. Utah Jazz (6-18)
(Last Week: 27)

The Jazz have one win in their last 12 and it came against the Spurs. So, they got lucky. Utah's horrific.

28. Minnesota Timberwolves (5-18)
(Last Week: 29)

Andrew Wiggins went into Sunday night on the verge of history:

29. Detroit Pistons (5-20)
(Last Week: 30)

We've made it to step four:

30. Philadelphia 76ers (2-22)
(Last Week: 25)

The honeymoon's over. The Sixers are back to being the worst. At least there was this:

Meet Ronald Roberts. He can fly.
