Report: Kirilenko done playing in NBA for now

Brad Penner / USA Today Sports

Whether or not he gets traded – and where to – it doesn't appear as though Andrei Kirilenko has any intention of playing ... at least not right now.

The wayward Brooklyn Nets forward who fell out of coach Lionel Hollins' rotation before leaving the team (yet to return) for undisclosed personal reasons is done playing in the NBA for the time being, USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt reports.

The Nets have been eyeing a trade partner for Kirilenko since early this season, hoping to shed his $3.3-million salary, which in turn would save them nearly $11 million in luxury tax payments, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski

The Utah Jazz and, more prominently, the Philadelphia 76ers have featured in trade talks. It's unclear how this recent revelation would affect those discussions, but it seems a safe bet to say that it wouldn't change anything for the 76ers, at least, since they planned to waive Kirilenko anyway.

Zillgitt adds that there's still a chance Kirilenko could sign with a team later this season, but that's apparently considered an iffy proposition.
