Nike suing former basketball shoe designers

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Nike is suing three former shoe designers, saying they used the company's highly-secretive trade secrets in order to secure jobs with rival Adidas.

ESPN's Darren Rovell wrote about the lawsuit Tuesday, which was filed Monday in an Oregon court. The suit, which seeks $10 million in damages, alleges designers Denis Dekovic, Marc Dolce and Mark Miner consulted with Adidas about replicating Nike's highly secretive "Innovation Kitchen" where new basketball shoes are conceived and designed.

The suit also alleges that the three designers had begun consulting with Adidas before they had stopped working for Nike, which would put them in breach of their non-compete contract clause. The designers then allegedly conspired to erase emails and text messages that would have implicated them in the misdeeds.

Dolce worked on models for LeBron James and Kobe Bryant and managed brands such as the famous Air Force One.
