Pacers' Ian Mahinmi out 6-8 weeks with plantar fascia tear

Just as they appeared to finally be ridding themselves of it, the Indiana Pacers have been bitten by the injury bug once again.

The Pacers announced Sunday that backup center Ian Mahinmi will miss the next six-to-eight weeks with a torn left plantar fascia. He sustained the injury in the first half of Friday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings

While Mahinmi isn't exactly a foundational rotation piece (and the recent returns of David West, Rodney Stuckey and Roy Hibbert surely soften the blow), he's the only true center the Pacers have playing behind Hibbert, and his size could prove difficult to replace.

In 20 games this season (four of them starts), Mahinmi has averaged 4.9 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 61.1 percent from the field.
