Rockets' Terry moves into 3rd place on NBA's all-time 3-point list

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Terry shot his way into the record books Saturday night.

The Houston Rockets' guard nailed a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter of a clash with the Minnesota Timberwolves, passing Jason Kidd to move into third place on the NBA's all-time list. Terry, a long-range assassin, is highly unlikely to move up any higher but it's a remarkable accomplishment for the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder out of the University of Arizona

Ray Allen 2973
Reggie Miller 2560
Jason Terry 1989 (and counting)
Jason Kidd 1988
Paul Pierce 1954

Longevity and consistency have been the keys to Terry's feat. He's in his 16th year in the NBA and has nailed 100-plus 3-pointers in 13 of those seasons.

Terry entered Saturday's game shooting 40.7 percent from long range, the first time he has been above the 40-percent mark since the 2006-07 season.
