Report: Cavaliers interested in Grizzlies' Prince

The Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in acquiring Memphis Grizzlies small forward Tayshaun Prince, Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports.

The Cavaliers, Windhorst notes, are looking to make a trade between Dec. 15 and Jan. 10 using their trade exception.

Prince has largely fallen out of favor in the Grizzlies' rotation this season, having been demoted to a bench role with the emergence of swingman Courtney Lee.

The 34-year-old veteran is averaging 6.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per contest this season on a $7.7-million expiring deal.

In his prime, Prince was a premier wing defender capable of guarding multiple positions on the court. Now in the twilight of his career, Prince's skills have deteriorated, most noticeably on offense. Prince is shooting just 40.5 percent from the field and 30 percent from deep over the last two seasons.

Adding Prince would help shore up Cleveland's bench. Alongside Matthew Dellavedova, Mike Miller and James Jones, Prince would slot in as a one-dimensional wing defender for the Cavaliers.
