Wizards' Pierce will play vs. Nuggets despite toe injury

Paul Pierce's toe injury won't keep him out of the lineup. At least not yet.

Pierce, who was listed as day-to-day by the Washington Wizards because of a left big toe injury, said he will play Friday against the Denver Nuggets.

Pierce was dealing with pain in the toe for a couple days before having it stepped on and inflamed Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Hopefully Pierce will be able to continue playing through the weekend, as the Wizards will play a home-and-home with the Celtics on Sunday and Monday that allows the future Hall of Famer another chance to return to Boston.

Pierce has averaged 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 17 games with the Wizards.
