Steph Curry keeps getting asked about playing in Charlotte eventually

Steph Curry can't become a free agent until July 1, 2017. That is 944 days away. Still, he continues to be asked about his plans for that fateful unrestricted free agency.

While it's probably irritating for the Golden State Warriors to hear their superstar asked about potentially leaving the team in three years, it was at least founded in fun this week with Curry in his native Charlotte. Since LeBron James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers, other top names like Kevin Durant and Curry have been asked about having homecomings of their own.

Curry admitted Friday that a homecoming is something he's thought about. After all, his parents live right down the road, and his father Dell played 10 seasons with the Hornets.

"That's hard to get out of your head," Curry said. "But obviously, it has no bearing on decisions that I make down the road. It's just a fun thought to have. The Hornets name does mean a lot to my family, and obviously I'm starting a new thing with the Warriors. I definitely feel right at home here (in Golden State)."

Again, though, Curry is under contract until the summer of 2017, and he has a pretty good thing going with the 13-2 Warriors, too. It may be on the back of his mind, but it's far too early for the Hornets to get excited or for the Warriors to be worried.

And hey, it's not like his fondness for Charlotte changed his approach at all, as Curry still scored 26 points with six assists in the Warriors' win on Friday. The 26-year-old Curry is averaging an obscene 24.3 points and 7.6 assists on .494/.420/.931 shooting on the season, so it's little surprise that the city of Charlotte is lustful of wooing him home.
