VIDEO: Chris Paul pays tribute to fan's late mom

Chris Paul dropped 23 points and seven assists in a Wednesday night victory over the Detroit Pistons, but more importantly, he gave one dedicated fan something to be thankful for this holiday weekend.

Prior to Wednesday's game, the Clippers' All-Star met with teenage fan Jack Gallagher and his family for half an hour, leaving Gallagher with plenty of Jordan brand CP3 gear, including the game-worn shoes he would wear during Wednesday's game.

Those watching the Clippers-Pistons game may have noticed the initials L.E.G. on those shoes and the story behind it is touching.

Jack's mother, Lisa Elaine Gallagher, passed away from brain cancer in September. Jack decided to share a video tribute for his mom online, which included him laying a CP3 basketball shoe Elaine had given him at her grave, with flowers tucked inside.

As the Los Angeles Times' Ben Bolch reports, "After watching the video within 24 hours of its posting, Paul contacted his wife and personal assistant." Paul told them to find Gallagher, who resides in Erie, Pa.

From there, Paul arranged for Gallagher and his family to head down to the game in Auburn Hills, where he also provided them with tickets in addition to the CP3 gear he provided Jack with. After the game, Paul invited the family to the visitors' locker room and gave Jack the game-worn shoes with Elaine's initials on them.

The scenes were understandably emotional.

Gallagher will never forget Paul's generosity. “It was unreal,” he told Clippers.com's Dennis Rogers. “I still cannot believe it actually happened. This means so much to me and I can’t describe how much Chris means to me for doing this.”

As Paul said postgame, some things are bigger than the game of basketball. Even for a Point God like CP3.
