Warriors hold Heat to 11 points in 4th, win 6th straight

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors' defense is real. The Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja Rule kind of real.

That didn't appear to be the case early on Tuesday, as the shorthanded Miami heat rang up 86 points through three quarters and threatened to snap the Warriors' winning streak with a fourth-quarter comeback. And that's when the Warriors locked things down, holding the Heat to just 11 points on 3-of-17 shooting in the final frame.

It was smothering, and it was thorough. The Heat were left to shoot primarily from the mid-range, and even when they could get in close, Andrew Bogut and company kept the paint scoring to a minimum.

Of course, the Warriors also scored a ton, ultimately winning 114-97 after shooting a torrid 57.3 percent from the floor.

Steph Curry, well, he was as Steph Curry as he's ever been. Curry dropped 40 points on the Heat, shooting an unbelievable 12-of-19 from the floor, 8-of-11 on threes and 8-of-9 from the line. He added six rebounds, seven assists and three steals for good measure.

He also continually did things like this, and really, what are the Heat supposed to do about them? Exactly what the Heat did: nothing.

Curry is now averaging an obscene 23.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.7 assists with a shooting line of .486/.426/.933.

With the victory, the Warriors extend their winning streak to six games and improve to 11-2 on the season. Their two-game blip from Nov. 9 and Nov. 11 seems like an aberration, and the league's No. 1 defense has to be terrifying potential opponents.

The Heat, meanwhile, fall to 8-7 with a 4-5 record at home, and desperately need Dwyane Wade to return with seven of their next eight on the road.
