Kings' Gay questionable vs. Pelicans on Tuesday

Kelley L Cox / USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings may be without small forward Rudy Gay on Tuesday night.

Gay's been downgraded to questionable against the New Orleans Pelicans as he continues to feel the effects of right Achilles tendinitis, the Kings announced:

Playing through the injury over the previous three games, Gay has averaged 16.3 points per game which is down nearly five ppg from his season average of 21.1 points per game. However, No. 8 has helped the team in other ways, dishing out 4.6 assists and grabbing 5.6 rebounds per contest.

Gay's averaging 19.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in seven games on the road this season, if you're into small sample splits.

The upstart 8-5 Kings face the 7-5 Pelicans in what should be an entertaining contest Tuesday between two teams that desperately want to be taken seriously in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.
