Thunder's Brooks won't rule Westbrook out for Friday

There may be legitimate reason for hope in Oklahoma City, as it sounds like Russell Westbrook could be days away from a return to the Thunder lineup.

After taking part in non-contact portions of the team's practice on Saturday, Westbrook took part in most of Monday's practice, including contact drills, head coach Scott Brooks told reporters.

Brooks hasn't ruled Westbrook out of Friday's game against the New York Knicks yet. "We'll make that decision later on," Brooks said.

Westbrook has missed the majority of the season so far after suffering a broken right hand in OKC's second game of the season, a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, on Oct. 30.

With Westbrook joining Kevin Durant - not to mention a host of other Thunder players - on the sidelines, the Thunder have started the season with an ugly 3-12 record. They currently sit dead last in the Western Conference.
