Warriors' Speights: Perkins 'thinks he’s a tough guy, but his game is terrible'

Kendrick Perkins's game has been chided by fans and media alike over the last few years in Oklahoma City, especially as the Thunder big man continued to start and log heavy minutes despite obviously incompetent play.

Perkins has been shifted to a bench role this season, but the criticism keeps coming, and now fellow players are getting in on the action.

Marreese Speights is the latest Perkins critic, as the Warriors big man sounded off after dropping 28 points and seven rebounds in Golden State's Sunday night victory over the Thunder.

“It’s just that Perk always has something to say,” Speights said, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle's Rusty Simmons.

“He thinks he’s a tough guy, but at the end of the day, his game is terrible. He always has something to say to me, every time we play against each other. It always gets me going, so: ‘Shout out to Perkins’ for helping me get this game.”

Shots fired.

Perkins is averaging 4.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 20 minutes per game so far this season. Remarkably, his putrid Player Efficiency Rating of 10.4 is his highest mark in five years.

Since the start of the 2010-11 season, of the players with a five-year PER of 9.0 or less, only Derek Fisher has played more games and logged more minutes than Perkins. Fisher, of course, is now roaming the sidelines as head coach of the New York Knicks.
