NBA Game Summary - New Orleans at Utah

Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Davis poured in a career-high 43 points to go along with 14 rebounds to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 106-94 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

Jrue Holiday was the only other Pelican in double figures with 19 points. He also dished out nine assists in the win.

Gordon Hayward led the Jazz with 31 points, Trey Burke had a season-high 20 and Derrick Favors chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds.

New Orleans led 25-23 after the first quarter, then turned up the pressure in the second to take a comfortable lead at halftime. Utah did manage to take the lead with the first four points of the quarter, but a 19-6 run that Davis capped with a pair of free throws made it 44-33 with four minutes to play.

Davis then scored seven of his team's final eight points to help the visitors take a 57-40 lead at the break.

"(Davis) didn't want to come out of the game," said Pelicans head coach Monty Williams. "He never lost his rhythm. We know he's a special player that's just starting to scratch the surface. Tonight was a big time game for him."

Hayward spearheaded a charge late in the third, scoring 11 points over the final four minutes of the quarter to trim the deficit to 77-72 entering the fourth.

"We fought back," said Hayward. "I'm proud of the effort we had in the second half."

Holiday opened the final frame with a 3-pointer and Davis extended the lead to 13 minutes later with a dunk as the Pelicans held at least a nine-point advantage the rest of the way.
