Report: Bulls could add PG if Rose, Hinrich injuries linger

Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports

With Derrick Rose perpetually questionable and Kirk Hinrich also banged up, the Chicago Bulls may soon make use of their empty 15th roster spot.

After missing three games due to ankle sprains, Rose has now missed four consecutive outings due to a hamstring strain. He remains day-to-day, but his backup Hinrich is also dealing with an injury, having missed Friday's game with a bruised chest. That left the Bulls starting Aaron Brooks on Friday, with little-used E'Twaun Moore playing more minutes than he had all season.

With an open roster spot and both primary point guard options in doubt for Monday, the Bulls may add a point guard after the weekend, according to a report from K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

It would almost surely be a non-guaranteed deal that would allow the Bulls to waive the player once Rose or Hinrich are healthy again. Johnson speculates that Mike James and Will Bynum could be candidates.

James has played 22 games for the Bulls over the past three seasons, having signed five different contracts in that time, usually 10-day deals. The 39-year-old is a free agent and has averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 assists over 595 career games.

Bynum, released by Boston after being acquired from Detroit, has averaged 8.2 points and 3.3 assists in 353 career games. Given that he's eight years James's junior, he may represent the better option.
