Rockets' Howard underwent PRP injection on injured knee

Troy Taormina / USA Today Sports

There is no timetable for Dwight Howard's return from a strained right knee, but the All-Star big man has revealed how the knee is being treated.

After missing Rockets practice Friday, Howard confirmed that he underwent Platelet Rich Protein Therapy, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, on his injured knee.

PRP was made famous among basketball fans and media a few years ago, when Kobe Bryant went to Germany to undergo the treatment.

Howard was a last minute scratch against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, a game the Rockets went on to lose. The Rockets have lost back-to-back games after beginning the season 9-1.
