Report: John Lucas III joins Fujian of Chinese league, will play with Al Harrington

John Lucas III has spurned an opportunity to try out for the Los Angeles Lakers, instead opting to sign with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

The 31-year-old guard, who was waived by the Washington Wizards in October, had been scheduled to audition for the Lakers this week, but will instead sign a "lucrative deal" in China.

Lucas will be joining fellow NBA journeyman Al Harrington, who signed with Fujian in August.

Fujian's season ends in February, so both Lucas and Harrington will have an opportunity to return to the NBA to join a team for the stretch run.

Lucas has played 216 games with four NBA teams, averaging 4.8 points and 1.4 assists in 12.2 minutes.
