Carmelo Anthony not on injury report Wednesday after knee tweak

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The knee injury that Carmelo Anthony aggravated on Tuesday does not appear to be serious.

Though Anthony admitted that he's been playing through some soreness in his left knee since Oct. 30, and needed to re-tape it on Tuesday, he isn't even listed on the New York Knicks' injury report Wednesday. Not a questionable, not a probable, not a mention.

That means Anthony is good to go against the Minnesota Timberwolves, against whom the Knicks will try to build some positive momentum. The Knicks snapped a seven-game losing streak on Sunday but quickly dropped a decision to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. They draw lowly Minnesota and the Philadelphia 76ers before a difficult stretch of schedule begins.

It's little surprise that Anthony will play, given the workload he normally handles. He's missed 96 of a possible 898 games in his career, but has played more regular-season minutes than all but three players since entering the league in 2003-04. Between last season and this year, he's at the top of that list.

Through 12 games this season, Anthony's averaging 36.3 minutes, his lowest since 2011-12. He's still managed to average 24.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists, while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor, his best mark since 2007-08 - though his other efficiency metrics have trended down some.
