LeBron James, Damian Lillard named NBA Players of the Week

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

For the 46th time in his career, LeBron James has been deemed his conference's best player over a one-week span.

James was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending Nov. 16, a fitting nod as his Cleveland Cavaliers finally found their groove. James led the Cavs to a 3-0 week, averaging  35 points, seven rebounds and 7.7 assists while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor and 50 percent on 3-point attempts.

That's probably not fair to New Orleans, Boston and Atlanta, who stood as victims while Cleveland improved to 5-3 and saw their offense climb to the league's No. 2 perch. For the season, James is leading the league in scoring with 27.8 points a night, while adding 6.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

Providing a contrast to James' 46 awards, Damian Lillard was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the very first time.

Lillard led the Portland Trail Blazers to a 3-0 mark, averaging 28 points with 4.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists. He shot 58.8 percent from the floor and made an incredible 14 of his 20 3-point attempts, a 70 percent clip. The week pushed Portland to 7-3 overall and fifth in team offense, while Lillard's averages moved to 20.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists and a 46.5 percent mark from outside.
