Irving clears up handshake with Love; 'We're going to do it more now'

Kyrie Irving doesn't see what the big deal is. People twist their mustaches like silent movie villains all the time, right?

That's the explanation that Irving and Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kevin Love are sticking with after a celebratory handshake on Monday led to some controversy. The handshake, shown in the post below, concludes with Irving and Love putting a hand to their respective mouths, something some thought resembled them smoking an imaginary joint.

A Cavs spokesperson said in the immediate aftermath that the pair were twirling an imaginary mustache, something Irving elaborated about on Wednesday:

What's there to clear up? That was an issue?

It's a simple twist of our mustaches. I guess Kevin's hand got a little wild there. But for us, it was literally just a twist of our mustaches. It's just a handshake that we do. We make a little noise afterwards.

The noise he's referring to was apparently vocalized for assembled media, and is just he and Love saying the word "mousers" in a high-pitched voice.

Don't expect the controversy to keep LeBron James' key supporting cast from performing their custom dap, by the way.

"We're going to do it more now," Irving said.

Irving also teased that a third teammate is in on the handshake with them, but that he didn't want to bring anyone else into the line of fire with questions about it.
