Hardwood Highlight of the Night: Lowry drives and dishes, DeRozan finishes

John E. Sokolowski / USA TODAY Sports

There was plenty to like in the Toronto Raptors' impressive 110-93 victory over LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers, but this third quarter play highlighted by Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan was as pretty a possession as the Raptors had in the game.

After taking a pass from Lowry, Amir Johnson looks for DeRozan on the left side. But as you can see, DeRozan motions for Johnson to instead look to the other side of the court, where Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas occupy space.

Johnson finds Lowry, and the Raptors' point guard uses a Valanciunas screen to put Kyrie Irving and Anderson Varejao in a one-five, side pick-and-roll.

James and Shawn Marion, who were monitoring DeRozan and Terrence Ross on the left side, are now completely focused on the Raptors' action happening on the right side, turning their backs on Toronto's wings.

This leaves Johnson, DeRozan and Ross all open beyond the 3-point line. After Lowry uses a beautiful spin-move to split Varejao and Irving and get to the middle of the floor, the Cavs' defense collapses around him further.

Johnson is open off the monitor to the right, Ross is open in the left corner, and DeRozan remains open beyond the arc, himself. Rather than settle for another potential jumper, however, and sensing the Cavs' defense is off balance, DeRozan makes a smart off-ball cut to the basket.

It all results in another highlight-reel assist from Lowry and a three-point play for DeRozan.
