Heat's McRoberts intended to stay in Charlotte

Steve Mitchell / USA Today Sports

Despite signing a four-year contract with the Miami Heat, all signs pointed to Charlotte for power forward Josh McRoberts before this NBA season.

McRoberts said Wednesday that he both wanted and intended to remain a Hornet when he opted out of the last season of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent, according to Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer

The Heat won him over with aggressive recruiting in free agency. Although Hornets owner Michael Jordan made a personal pitch to McRoberts to stay, he was already deep into negotiations with Miami.

And that is the tale of how McRoberts the jersey ripper landed with the Heat.
