Knicks' Prigioni leaves game with sprained ankle, will not return

The New York Knicks have gone from thin to bare in their depth at point guard.

Pablo Prigioni landed awkwardly on Detroit Pistons point guard D.J. Augustin on Wednesday. He had to be helped off the court and the team has announced that he will not return to the game. He was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle, though X-rays were negative for breakages.

The 37-year-old Prigioni is a sure-handed point guard capable of spotting up from deep. On the year, Prigioni is averaging 4.8 points and 2.5 assists in 20.8 minutes per game.

Without Prigioni and Jose Calderon, the Knicks are left with only Shane Larkin to run the point. One of their shooting guards in J.R. Smith or Tim Hardaway Jr. will likely have to spot some minutes at the one.
