Ibaka and Jackson playing through injuries for banged-up Thunder

Two off days couldn't have come at a better time for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Following Tuesday's loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Thunder finally have two days to rest after playing five games in seven days to begin the season. And they've done so while getting absolutely decimated by injuries.

The team's injuries are well-documented: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Anthony Morrow and Mitch McGary are out until at least December, while Andre Roberson, Jeremy Lamb and Grant Jerrett are recovering from shorter-term ailments.

Things got worse Tuesday, when Perry Jones suffered a knee contusion, and left the arena limping badly. It looked as if Reggie Jackson got hurt twice during the game, too, at times favoring an arm and a leg.

As it turns out, Jackson, who just returned from a wrist injury, is dealing with a thigh bruise. Serge Ibaka is also playing through a bum ankle that he was icing following the game, and said that Jackson has a bad ankle, too.

To recap: eight players are now injured, and two of the remaining seven are playing through injuries.

"It feels like a nightmare that I can't wake up from," Jackson said Tuesday.

No doubt. There's the old saying that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but it appears whatever the Thunder did to anger the basketball gods (or The Based God) is actually killing them. The Thunder need to hope a few men get healthy by Friday when Memphis visits, or that their hardship exception is approved so they can add a 16th man to the roster.
