Heat's Bosh, Warriors' Thompson named NBA Players of the Week

Klay Thompson has more than a new maximum contract extension to smile about.

Days after signing a four-year extension with the Golden State Warriors worth nearly $70 million, Thompson was named the Western Conference Player of the Week.

Through three games, all Warriors wins, Thompson averaged a league-leading 29.7 points, 3.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals on 53.7 percent shooting. He scored 41 points against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.

Chris Bosh was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for his role in leading the Miami Heat to the only undefeated record in the Conference.

In his first opportunity to be a No. 1 offensive option in five years, Bosh has averaged 25.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 rebounds through three Heat wins over the Washington Wizards, Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors.

While Bosh's selection was expected, Thompson's comes as a surprise considering Anthony Davis averaged a ridiculous 28.5 points, 16.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in his only two games of opening week.

The Warriors' extra game and perfect record no doubt helped Thompson's cause.
