Report: Oladipo might return to Magic in 3 weeks

Brian Spurlock / USA Today Sports

October was a month to forget for Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo.

The 22-year-old sprained his MCL on Oct. 3. When he returned to practice on Oct. 23, he took an elbow to the face below his right eye. The facial fractures led to the first surgery of his life.

While there's no official timeline for his return, Oladipo could be back within three weeks, according to The Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins

It's been a trying month, but Oladipo's family and friends have come to his aid. His mother, a registered nurse, already had a scheduled visit to Orlando to see her son, and stayed with him in the days after his surgery. Oladipo's twin sister, Victoria, also made the trip down to Florida.

The day after his surgery, a few of Oladipo's teammates - Maurice Harkless, Devyn Marble, Kyle O'Quinn, and Elfrid Payton - paid him a visit over dinner, in the hopes of lifting his spirits.

Oladipo said:

It meant a lot to me. It did, because it was tough just laying there and not really being able to do anything, just pretty much sleeping. It was tough. And to see them come over and have a good time and us to just chill and talk and play video games was pretty cool. So I'm glad that they did that, because it definitely helped my heart and helped my spirits as well.

The area underneath Oladipo's right eye is still swollen, and he'll be wearing a protective mask and knee brace once he returns to the floor.

Oladipo averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in his rookie year in 2013-14.
