Report: Jazz sign Alec Burks to 4-year, $42-million extension

The Utah Jazz continue to lock up their future.

Utah reached an agreement on a four-year, $42-million contract extension with guard Alec Burks, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Wojnarowski said the deal could reach $45 million with incentives.

The fourth-year guard, who has become a focal point of the Jazz's offense, has improved in each NBA season since Utah made him the No. 11 overall pick out of the University of Colorado in 2011.

Burks averaged a career-high 14 points and shot 45 percent from the field in 2013, while primarily coming off the bench. He has started both Jazz games this season and is scoring 16.5 points over 31 minutes.

In addition to Burks, Utah has signed Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors to four-year deals as the team attempts to get back to relevance following a pair of disappointing seasons. The trio are all under 25 years of age.

Burks, Hayward and Favors help provide the Jazz with a young and intriguing roster, which features second-year starting point guard Trey Burke and 22-year-old Enes Kanter, who was the third overall pick in 2011.
