Report: Westbrook could miss 4-6 weeks with hand fracture

Craig Mitchelldyer-USA TODAY Sports

Things have gone from bad to worse for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Already riddled with injuries, the Thunder could now be without star point guard Russell Westbrook for four-to-six weeks, reports Darnell Mayberry of the The Oklahoman. Westbrook was diagnosed with a small fracture in his right hand after injuring himself in Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Thunder have a number of players shelved, including superstar Kevin Durant, who is expected to miss roughly a quarter of the season with a fractured right foot. Oklahoma could conceivably be without its two best players until December in a deep Western Conference.

Reggie Jackson (ankle), Jeremy Lamb (back strain) and Anthony Morrow (sprained knee) are among other injured Thunder players.

Westbrook was supposed to shoulder the load until Durant returned but didn't make it through two games. The 25-year-old, who was held to a career-low 46 games last season following three knee surgeries, dropped 38 points in the season opener, but managed to log just nine minutes Thursday before watching the remainder of the game from the sidelines.

Oklahoma, which has dropped both its contests this season, is expected to provide an update on Westbrook later Friday.
